Broccoli Puree

With all the vitamins and nutrients found in broccoli, it is of no wonder this veggie is labelled as the most nutritious vegetable.  Broccoli contains high levels of vitamins A and C.  As Vitamin C helps in the absorption of protein, dogs that regularly consume this vegetable will fully absorb the protein from the food  Broccoli is a good source of antioxidants, which has the function of repairing damage to cells caused by the toxic substances.  The sulforaphane substance in this vegetable aids in the detoxification process.  The broccoli’s antioxidant, anti-inflammatory and detoxifying components help to eliminate free radicals in the dog’s body by lowering the risk of development of cancer and other health concerns.  The development of cancer in dogs that regularly consume broccoli is considerably reduced as this vegetable has the all important phytochemicals that can serve as a powerful cancer cell fighter.  The inclusion of broccoli in the dog’s diet promotes bladder and intestinal health of the dog because this veggie is a good source of soluble fiber.

Although broccoli is listed as one of the human foods unsafe for dogs (Don't panic!), what makes the vegetable unsafe for dogs is the isothiocyanate it contains. The toxicity of this vegetable is DOSE DEPENDENT. This highly nutritious veggie would be PERFECTLY SAFE for the dog to eat as long as the amount consumed DOES NOT exceed 10% of the dog’s total food intake for the day. The toxic substance in broccoli will cause gastric irritation if the amount ingested by the dog is more than 10% of the diet. Isothiocyanate’s effects become fatal if the amount of broccoli ingested by the dog is more than 25% of the daily food intake.

Our broccoli puree is made WITHOUT any preservatives and seasonings.  It is also blended into puree form for easier absorption and digestion.  If you are very worried about the total intake that your dog takes, you can always give half of each pack for breakfast (with oats+sweet potatoes) or dinner (with vegetables combo+meat) daily, it will add more flavour to the food, while giving the best nutrients to your dog.

The puree is packed into zip-lock bags for freezing.  Using zip-lock bags not only preserves the freshness but also makes thawing easier.

It is recommended to be consumed within 2-3 weeks to ensure freshness.

Defrost, microwave or steam it and serve.  It can be served cool, at room temperature or warm depending on your dog's preference.   ;D
